iPad journaling provides a great introduction to student blogging. You can create individual journals on the student iPads (just make sure that they get the same number iPad each time) or create a classroom journal by letting the students use the app on your iPad. Either way you can email your students' diary pages to yourself as a jpeg or pdf. Then post the journal on your school web page. It's an easy way to update your web page and provides your students an audience for their writing.

Consider trying one of the following easy-to-use digital journaling apps in your classroom:

$1.99
Kid's Journal
Kid's Journal is an easy introduction for for primary grades. Students relate three attributes about each day ("how are you feeling?", "where are you?", and "what is the weather like?"). Then they type the text answer to the question "what did you do today?", and take a picture for the day using the iPad.

Kid's Journal diary pages can be downloaded to the iPad iBooks app and emailed to the teacher ~ let me know and I'll show you how to do this.

$1.99
iDiary
iDiary is another great journaling app for students who are a bit more experienced and require more writing space. This app offers more than just typing text ~ it also includes drawing tools, photos and stickers that let the author personalize each post. Finally, iDiary allows individual diaries to be password protected if desired.

iDiary journals can be emailed directly to the teacher as a jpeg.
