Here is a great app that we recently added to our school iPads. Sakura Quick Math is a fantastic and fun way for students to work on their math facts. It is recommended for grades K-5.

Problems are divided into addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and a combination of all four. Once you decide the type of problem, you then choose one of three levels: beginner, intermediate or advanced. While the clock is running, students are given twenty problems to answer.

What makes this math app unique is the user interface. Students do not simply choose the correct answer or key it into a calculator-type keypad, they actually use the iPad to write the answer directly on the screen. The app uses recognition software to decode the writing. If its not written well, it won't accept it. So BONUS ~ students not only practice their facts, but also their penmanship!

 Students can even create a unique user account (provided they always use the same iPad) and try to beat their best time.
